- Students admitted to Dharan Health Institutes should abide the rules and regulations of the college, which will be amended time to time thereof.
- Students should be regular and punctual in attending the classes and all the activities of the college.
- College Timing: College functions between 9.30 am to 4.30 pm for theory classes and it may be extended to 8 am to 5.00 pm in times of examinations.
- For Clinical training students should report to the hospital by 7.00 am for morning shift. The students will have their clinical training in three shifts including night duty.
- Students must give their attendance punctually for theory/practical to their concerned teacher otherwise they will be marked absent. No grace time will be allowed.
- As per The Tamilnadu Dr MGR Medical University & Indian Nursing Council Students must have 90% attendance to become eligible for writing university theory exams and 100% attendance in practical to become eligible for course completion.
- It is mandatory to appear for all Internal Assessment tests and Sessional exams otherwise the student will loose internal marks.
- Students must participate in all college activities includes sports, cultural, conferences, workshops, clinical meetings, guest lecturers, seminars etc..
- Mobile phones are not allowed inside the Academic Campus and Hospital. If found with any student it will be ceased and will not be given back.
- Dress code: Girl students must wear the prescribed neat uniform with hair tied up neatly. Use black cut shoes with black socks. Have your nails trimmed well. Boy students must wear the prescribed neat uniform with tuck in, hair groomed neatly, clean shaved and nails trimmed well. Use black shoes with black socks.
- Ragging is strictly prohibited inside or outside the campus. Students who found to be engaged in such activities will be dismissed and legal action will be taken. Parents and students must give undertaking by signing Anti-ragging affidavit.
- Students should greet the faculties when they see them for the first time in the college campus.
- Students should maintain silence in class room, library and college campus and maintain the discipline & decorum in and around the college campus.
- Students should make every effort to take care of the college & hospital property and help in maintaining the same.
- Students shall communicate to the Principal office through their class coordinators.
- Student who has any problem should report to the class representative and to their class coordinator. If the problem is not resolved then proceed to the Principal through their respective class coordinators. If problem does not resolved even after meeting the Principal, they can approach the office of the Managing Director. In case of any emergency and urgent issues it can be presented to the Principal office directly. Students should not by-pass the line of authority.
- Student should not take unnecessary leave in theory and clinical and should obtain prior permission from their concerned class coordinators and Principal. The lack of attendance must be compensated before applying for the examination.
- The students must clear all dues of the college and hostel within stipulated deadline and submit no due certificate before the commencement of the university exam otherwise they will not be allowed for the examinations.
- Students should follow the rules & regulations of the institution. If any student is indulging in defaming activity of the college, violating rules & regulations and found disobedient will be suspended/terminated.
- Any parents/guardian of dayscholars, visiting college/Principal office must carry authorized visitors card and produce the same on demand. No other visitors are allowed to represent the students.
- All the decision taken by the Management is final.

Hostel Rules & Protocols
GENERAL
- Students are permitted to go home for marriage /sickness / funeral of their close blood relatives for maximum of two days an submission of valid proof provided that the authorised person accompanying the student from hostel. (as given in visitors Card)
- Hostel allotment is based on FIRST come FIRST Serve basis.
- Married students are not eligible for admission to the hostel.
- The management has all rights to allot rooms for the students.
- Daily activity schedule should be followed by all inmates of the hostel. During the college hours nobody is allowed to remain in the hostel without prior permission.
- Room should be kept clean and neat always.
- Hostel room accessories should be used safely. If found damaged will be recovered from the concern room inmates in double.
- Water is elixir of life and should be used sparingly. Drinking water is meant only for drinking, not for any other use.
- Students should SWITCH OFF their room lights at 10pm.
- Students should put off the electrical appliances while leaving the room.
- No private group, party gatherings (Birthday, Friendship, Valentine, New Year, Religious activity) are entertained in the Hostel Premises and in rooms.
- Ragging is strictly prohibited in all form. If found, legal action will be taken.
- Student should not keep any unauthorized material/guest/documents in rooms.
- Hostel students are not permitted to change their rooms without prior permission.
- Hostel students cannot vacate in the middle of the academic year. Hostel fees once paid is non refundable/ unadjustable to any other fees of the student.
- Students are not permitted to cook in the rooms/anywhere in the hostel.
- The Management can alter / relocate the Hostel at any point of time if required.
- The Management and compentent authority has rights to visit any room without prior notice.
STUDY HOURS & ILLNESS
- Compulsory study hours are scheduled between 8.00pm to 9.30pm daily.
- Strict silence should be observed during the study hours.
- Hostel students should not disturb their roommates during their studies and their private time.
- During sickness/illness, students have to inform warden for medical treatment. Necessary arrangements will be done from the college side for medical treatment at Parent Hospital (Dharan Hospital).
- Students are not allowed to keep any medical products/medicines without medical prescription from the licensed Physician.
- If any of the student taking regular medications need to bring the prescription of the medicine form licensed physician and get approval from principal.
- The students who have any chronic illness or allergic to medicine / food should inform the same and submit the copy of relevant medical report and prescription to the principal.
MESS
- The mess time table should be followed strictly.
- Student should be inside the mess hall in their allotted time with proper dress code.
- Student should not take food their Hostel rooms.
- Any Grievances/Complaints should addressed to the warden and to be written in the complaint note. Complaints given other than the prescribed channel are not entertained.
- Student are not allowed to enter kitchen & store area of the canteen.
- Menu are fixed after consulting the students and considering the choice of majority of the students.
OUTING & VACATION
- Students will be sent home only during the Holidays declared by the college and they will not be sent home during all declared Holidays. Only for the selected holidays they will be allowed to go home as decided by the College time to time.
- Authorized person (Parent/Guardian) should come and pick the students for any family function/festival with prior permission from the Principal.
- In case of local outing with parents, students should return to the campus at or before 5pm. Outing is permitted only on holidays with prior permission.
- In case of emergency, proper information from parents (Phone, Email, Whatsapp) is mandatory to send the students to home with duly signed leave letter through class coordinator and granted by the Principal.
- Parents have to inform their ward's arrival during vacation through SMS/WHATSAPP to warden with Name, course & year of study without fail.
- Students must report to the hostel after holidays without fail and must reach the hostel before 6 pm on the previous day of reopening. Those students who are reporting after 6 pm should be accompanied by their authorized parents/guardian.
- Those parents who are willing to send their wards alone to their home/hostel should give written undertaking to send their wards alone.
- Students are not allowed to book tickets and travel in the bus/train which departs after 8 pm from Salem, if they are going alone from the hostel to their home.
BELONGINGS/DRESS/CODE OF CONDUCT
- Ensure the safety of your cash and valuable things like Jewelry. Management will not be responsible for loss or theft.
- Only one mobile is allowed per student, if any other mobile is found the usage of phone will be totally banned for the rest of all academic years. The phone will be ceased and will not be given back.
- Students are not allowed to carry any electronic devices inside the Hostel.
- Students should wear only chudidhar with shawl inside the Hostel premises and Mess.
VISITOR TIME & COMMUNICATION TIME
- Visitors are allowed only on second Saturday and fourth Sunday within 6.00 am - 6.00 pm.Visitors are not permitted between 6 pm-6 am.
- No visitors are permitted during college hours.
- No parents are allowed to visit the hostel without prior permission from principal/warden.
- Visitors are allowed to meet the students in the visitors' area only with visitors pass.
- Dayscholars/Guest are not permitted to enter into the hostel for any reason.
- No night stay will be entertained for Parent/Guardian inside hostel premises.
- Entries should be done by Parent/Guardian in the Visitor register kept in hostel while visiting the student.
- Parents/Guardian carrying authorized visitors pass only allowed to visit the students.
- Students are allowed to use their mobile phones to communicate with their family for 30 minute to 1 hour/day in stipulated timing. They should handover their mobile after the phone timing to the warden. However the management reserves rights to alter or withdraw the phone timings as and when necessary.
- Violation of any hostel rules & regulations will lead to disciplinary actions including suspension/dismissal from hostel.
Payment Rules & Protocols
- All Students should pay their yearly dues as mentioned in the fees payment cut off date menstioned in handbook.
- If due date cross, fine will attract.
- All your payments only through online mode or cash mode
- All your Bank transfer related queries without "RTGS Ref No" should be discussed, with your home bank branch only.
- Your annuals dues should be cleared before your preparatory holidays.
Anti Ragging Consent
UGC Regulations on Curbing the menace of raggingin higher educational institutions, 2009
Objectives
To prohibit any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student, or indulging in rowdy or indisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student or asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such Fresher or any other student, with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure of showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student and thereby to eliminate ragging in all its forms from universities, deemed universities and other higher educational Institutions in the country by prohibiting it under these Regulations, preventing its occurrence and punishing those who indulge in ragging as provided for in these Regulations and the appropriate law in force.
Clause-3: What constitutes Ragging
Ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:
- a. any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student;
- b. Indulging in rowdy or indisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student.
- c. asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student.
- d. any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher.
- e. exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students.
- f. any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students;
- g. any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person;
- h. any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post, public insults which would also Include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively on passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student.
- i. any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student with or without an intent to derive a sadistic pleasure or showing off power, authority or superiority by a student over any fresher or any other student.
Clause : 7Action to be taken by the Head of the institution -
On receipt of the recommendation of the Anti Ragging Squad or on receipt of any information concerning any reported incident of ragging, the Head of institution shall immediately determine if a case under the penal laws is made out and if so, either on his own or through a member of the Anti-Ragging Committee authorised by him in this behalf, proceed to file a First Information Report (FIR), within twenty four hours of receipt of such information or recommendation, with the police and local authorities, under the appropriate penal provisions relating to one or more of the following, namely:
- i. Abetment to raggingi. any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student.
- ii. Criminal conspiracy to ray.
- iii. Unlawful assembly and noting while ragging.
- iv. Public nuisance created during ragging.
- v. Violation of decency and morals through ragging.
- vi. Injury to body, causing hurt or grievous hurt.
- vii. Wrongful restraint.
- viii. Wrongful confinement.
- ix. Use of criminal force.
- x. Assault as well as sexual offences or unnatural offences.
- xi. Extortion.
- xii. Criminal trespass.
- xiii Offences against property.
- xiv. Criminal intimidation.
- xv. Attempts to commit any or all of the above mentioned offences against the victim(s).
- xvi. Threat to commit any or all of the above mentioned offences against the victim(s).
- xvii. Physical or psychological humiliation.
- xviii. All other offences following from the definition of "Ragging".
Provided that the Head of the institution shall forthwith report the occurrence of the incident of ragging to the District Level Anti-Ragging Committee and the Nodal officer of the affiliating University, if the institution is an affiliated institution.
Provided that Head the institution shall also forthwith its own enquiry initiated under clause 9 of these Regulations and other measures without waiting for action on the part of the police/local authorities and such remedial action shall be initiated and completed immediately and in no case later than a period of seven days of the reported occurrence of the incident of ragging
Clause 9.1Administrative action in the event of ragging.
The institution shall punish a student found guilty of ragging after following the procedure and in the manner prescribed hereinunder
a) The Anti-Ragging Committee of the institution shall take an appropriate decision, in regard to punishment or otherwise, depending on the facts of each incident of ragging and nature and gravity of the incident of ragging established in the recommendations of the Anti-Ragging Squad
b) The Anti-Ragging Committee may, depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt established by the Anti-Ragging Squad, award, to those found guilty, one or more of the following punishments, namely;
- Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
- Withholding/ withdrawing scholarship/ fellowship and other benefits.
- Debarring from appearing in any test examination or other evaluation Process.
- Withholding results.
- Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet tournament, youth festival, etc.
- Suspension/ expulsion from the hostel.
- Cancellation of admission.
- Rustication from the institution for period ranging from one to four Semesters.
- Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period.
Provided that where the persons committing or abetting the act of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment
c) An appeal against the order of punishment by the Anti-Ragging Committee shall lie,
- in case of an order of an institution, affiliated to or constituent part of a University, to the Vice-Chancellor of the University.
- in case of an order of a University, to its Chancellor.
- In case of an institution of national importance created by an Act of Parliament, to the Chairman or Chancellor of the institution, as the case may be.
